Portugal quietly gets on with making some of Europe's most characterful wine, mostly from grapes you won't find anywhere else. Elegant reds from the Dão, the odd treasure from the Douro, and Madeira, a wine that can outlive all of us. The bottles here are the ones that have won me over.
