Prunotto is one of the established names in Piedmontese wine, now part of the Antinori group but with deep roots in the region going back to the early 20th century. They make wines across the range of Piedmontese appellations, with a particular focus on Barbera from Nizza, which began as a sub-zone of Barbera d'Asti and now has its own DOCG for single-varietal Barbera.

Barbera from sites like these shows a generosity of fruit, good acidity, and a depth that the everyday version rarely has. These are well-made, characterful reds from grapes that Piedmont grows better than anywhere.
