Why Mark chose this

Lessona and Bramaterra are small, under-the-radar DOCs in northern Piedmont, producing Nebbiolo-based wines with a lightness and perfume quite different from Barolo. Proprietà Sperino is one of the estate's reviving this forgotten corner of Piedmont, and the Uvaggio is their approachable entry point: a blend of Nebbiolo with a little Vespolina and Croatina that gives the wine an extra spicy, floral edge. Marked as fine wine and priced accordingly, but it's the kind of discovery that sticks with you.
