Tuscany means Sangiovese: Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and their neighbours, reds with bright cherry fruit and the kind of acidity that makes food taste better. I lean towards traditional producers who let the grape speak. These are the Tuscan wines I'm pouring at home at the moment.

About Tuscan Wine
Tuscany is Sangiovese country: the grape behind Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. At its best it is savoury, cherry-scented and built for the table, with the structure to age for years. It is also the birthplace of the Super Tuscans, the rule-breakers that brought in Cabernet and Merlot, some Sangiovese-led, some (like Sassicaia) barely Sangiovese at all. Mark chooses growers who make them with restraint rather than oak and extraction.
