About Matthieu Barret

Northern Rhône, France

Matthieu Barret took over his family's vines in Cornas in 1998, aged just twenty-three, and farmed them biodynamically from the start; his Domaine du Coulet was certified by Demeter within a couple of years. He has since become one of the Northern Rhône's most interesting growers, and in recent years he has moved away from oak altogether, ageing his Syrah in concrete, steel and ceramic so the granite hillsides can speak plainly.

No Wine's Land, the wine we carry, takes its name from its position: the vines sit in the gap between the Cornas and Saint-Joseph appellations, so a wine from a very serious address is bottled simply as Côtes du Rhône. It is bright, peppery Syrah with real life to it.
