Giovanni Almondo

Giovanni Almondo is widely considered one of the finest producers in the Roero, the sandy hills across the river from Barolo and Barbaresco. The family has deep roots in the village of Montà, and their steep vineyards produce both celebrated Arneis whites and seriously good Nebbiolo.

Bric Valdiana is their top red: Nebbiolo from a single south-facing hillside, aged traditionally in large oak casks. It has all the perfume and grace of fine Nebbiolo at a price the more famous appellations stopped offering years ago.
