Diego Morra Barolo Zinzasco 2019

Why Mark chose this

Diego Morra farms in Verduno, a quieter part of Barolo that often gets overlooked in favour of Barolo and La Morra. The Zinzasco comes from some of the best hillside plots in the area, and the 2019 vintage is one of the strongest of recent years: great warmth but with enough acidity and structure to keep it proper Barolo. Nebbiolo at this level takes time but it rewards patience.

Tasting Notes

The vineyards, located in the best crus of Verduno: La Morra and Roddi d’Alba. Nebbiolo is predominantly grown here, but there is a significant presence of all the typical grapes of the area, such as Dolcetto, Barbera and Pelaverga. We follow each of them with care and attention to detail: we’ve adopted a system of pruning aimed at limiting yield and we use organic fertilization. We combat diseases using integrated control. The 2019 Diego Morra ‘Zinzasco’ Barolo takes its name from a small creek that forms the border between the hamlets of La Morra and Verduno. Appropriately, it is a blend of fruit from Morra family vineyards located on each side of the divide: 75% La Morra and 25% from Verduno.
