Domaine du Tunnel

Domaine du Tunnel takes its name from the old steam train tunnel in Saint-Péray where Stéphane Robert started making wine in 1994, when he was just 24 years old. He began by renting vines and has since built the domaine to ten hectares across Cornas, Saint-Joseph, and Saint-Péray. His wife Sandrine works alongside him.

The domaine produces wines in each of these appellations, working with both Syrah and Roussanne. The Saint-Péray whites, made from Roussanne grown on granite, are firm, mineral and built for food, while the Cornas and Saint-Joseph reds show the depth and savoury character this part of the Rhône does best. Stéphane Robert is one of the more quietly impressive producers in the northern Rhône.
