Chateau le Devay

Chateau le Devay is a relatively recent name in the Northern Rhône, established by Jean-Charles and Florence Fournet who bought this 18th-century property in 2005, just north of Côte-Rôtie. The estate has attracted a lot of attention for its Roussanne, a grape that is demanding to grow and can be wildly expressive on the right soils.

The wines show the taut, stony character that marks the best Northern Rhône whites: citrus, wet stone, and real tension on the palate. Roussanne in this setting is not a showy wine, which is part of the point.
