Why Mark chose this

Monvigliero is one of Barolo's most talked-about crus right now, prized for producing wines of uncommon finesse and perfume. Diego Morra farms the site carefully, keeping yields low, and 2019 is a very good vintage for the whole appellation. This has the rose petals and dried herbs on the nose you hope for from this site, with ripe Nebbiolo tannins that are firm but not aggressive. It's a wine that rewards patience, but it's already showing its quality. A proper Barolo.

Tasting Notes

Historic Cru from Barolo, the grapes in this selection originate from the era of our Grandfather Geronimo through the best vintages of our winery. A decidedly small yield (circa 70 q/hectare) and a generous orientation make this wine unique in its category. On a sensorial trip, from the nose to the mouth by way of balanced and lightly shaded reds, to perfumes of rose, mature fruit, delicate spices, perhaps tobacco, it then opens itself in a warm hug full of proper tannins to complete the sensation that only a great wine can capture.
