Olivier Coste

Olivier Coste's family have made wine in the Languedoc since 1701, when Domaine Montrose was founded at Pézenas, and he is the ninth generation to work there. Alongside the family estate he bottles a range of wines under his own name that put fruit and freshness first, which is exactly what the south of France does best when nobody is trying too hard.

The farming is thoughtful too: mechanical weeding rather than herbicide, and pheromones instead of insecticide sprays to keep pests from breeding in the vines. His Viognier, the wine we stock, is unoaked and gently aromatic, honeysuckle and apricot on the nose with a soft, textural feel that makes it very easy to like.
