Framingham

Framingham is one of Marlborough's quieter achievers, less well known than some of its neighbours but producing wines of real quality, particularly in Riesling, a variety that rarely gets the attention it deserves from this region. The estate includes an organic vineyard in Renwick planted over 40 years ago, making it ancient by New Zealand standards, and the old-vine fruit it produces has a concentration and textural depth that sets it apart from lighter, more perfumed versions.

Framingham is a good reason to look beyond what Marlborough is most famous for. The same careful, low-intervention approach that goes into the Riesling runs through the rest of the range, and the results consistently reward the attention.
