Cesconi

Cesconi is a family estate in the village of Pressano, in the hills above Lavis in Trentino, farming their vineyards at around five hundred metres with a focus on the white varieties that do best at altitude in this corner of the Alps. The estate has been in the family for several generations and the current team works with Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay, often blending them together rather than bottling each one separately.

The thinking behind the blends is sound: stone fruit, white flowers, and a fine mineral thread from the Pressano hillsides come through more completely when the varieties are allowed to complement each other. These are restrained, honest whites that drink well with food rather than demanding attention on their own, and they reflect a serious, unhurried approach to viticulture at altitude.
