Cesconi

Cesconi is a family estate in the village of Pressano, in the hills above Lavis in Trentino, farming their vineyards on the slopes with a focus on the white varieties that do best at altitude in this corner of the Alps. The estate has been in the family for several generations and is now run by four brothers.

The whites are the heart of it: Nosiola, the local Trentino grape, alongside Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, mostly bottled as single varieties, with a blend of Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay at the top of the range. Stone fruit, white flowers and a fine mineral thread from the Pressano hillsides run through the wines. These are restrained, honest whites that drink well with food rather than demanding attention on their own, and they reflect a serious, unhurried approach to growing grapes at altitude. There are reds too, though the whites are what the estate is known for.
