Tenuta San Leonardo is a historic Italian wine estate located in the Lagarina Valley in Trentino, known for producing a Bordeaux-style red wine called San Leonardo, which is highly regarded in northern Italy. The estate has a rich history dating back to at least 589 AD and features a 12th-century church with ancient frescoes.
Rich aromas of dark fruits — blackcurrant and plum — with hints of spice and herbs. Full-bodied on the palate, with dark cherry, cassis and a touch of vanilla, complemented by fine-grained tannins and crisp acidity. Long, structured finish with potential for further development.
Try it with wild boar stewed with juniper and red wine, or the local speciality carne salada — salt-cured beef served with beans and polenta. Slow-roasted game birds such as pheasant or duck, seasoned with local herbs, are perfect matches for the wine's earthy complexity.
