About Bilancia
Hawke's Bay, New Zealand
Bilancia is the personal project of winemaking couple Warren Gibson and Lorraine Leheny, founded in Hawke's Bay in 1997. The name is Italian for 'balance', and that tells you everything about the style they chase.
La Collina Syrah comes from a hand-terraced hillside the couple planted themselves above the Gimblett Gravels, made in tiny quantities and only released in vintages that deserve it. Widely regarded as one of New Zealand's finest Syrahs, it is perfumed, peppery and beautifully structured: a wine that can stand alongside the northern Rhône with its head held high.
