White
Wieninger, ‘Bisamberg’ Wiener Gemischter Satz 2022
£30.95
Why Mark chose this
Wiener Gemischter Satz is one of wine's more unusual traditions: a field blend of different white varieties grown, picked and fermented together, unique to Vienna, where it has been made for centuries. Fritz Wieninger is one of the pioneers of the modern Vienna wine scene and the Bisamberg is his estate bottling of this style from one of the city's historic vineyard sites. The mix of Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay gives something fresh and layered, with a character that does not quite resemble any single variety.

Tasting Notes
Fritz Wieninger is considered a pioneer of the ‘New Vienna’ wine movement, combining a sense of modernity with the traditions of the region and his family, who have been making wine for over 100 years. Wieninger also makes a traditional Viennese white, Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC, from its separate sites, including one of the Vienna region’s most historical vineyards, the ‘Rosengartl’. This unique wine comprises a field blend of varieties grown, picked and fermented together, showing the individual characteristics of each vineyard rather than a specific variety.
