Emanuele Scammacca del Murgo Etna Rosso 2023
£23.95
Why Mark chose this
The cellars of Cantine Murgo date back to 1860, when the Scammacca del Murgo family – who run the estate to this day – were given 30ha of vines by Senator Luigi Gravina. More than a century later, the San Michele Estate - planted on the steep, volcanic slopes of Mount Etna – underwent a conversion to estate-based production in the late 1970s. Releasing their first bottling s of Nerello Mascalese in 1981, the family has continued to produce some of Sicily’s finest Etna-grown wines for over four decades.

Tasting Notes
91/100 - Pouring a transparent ruby color, the 2023 Etna Rosso benefits from a little air for its light reduction to blow off before showing off a refreshing profile of Bing cherries, smoky earth, peppercorn, and fresh flowers. It's savory and bright on the palate, with a lightweight, medium-bodied frame and a snappy lift of orange peel on the finish. Drink now or over the next 5-7 years. - Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com
