About Tenuta San Guido
Bolgheri, Italy
Tenuta San Guido is the Bolgheri estate that produces Sassicaia, the wine that effectively created the Supertuscan category and gave Bolgheri its international identity. Sassicaia was first produced commercially in 1968 and has been one of Italy's most sought-after reds ever since. The estate is owned by the Incisa della Rocchetta family and the vineyards benefit from the Maremma's warm coastal climate, moderated by breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Alongside Sassicaia, the estate produces Guidalberto, a second wine based largely on Cabernet Sauvignon with a proportion of Merlot. It gives a genuine sense of the San Guido house style, with warmth, structure and that Bolgheri coastal character, without the scarcity or the price of the flagship.
