La Fleur D'Or

La Fleur d'Or is a Sauternes assembled from parcels across the appellation, including fruit from some classified estates, made to offer the true taste of botrytised Semillon without the grand-château price. Much of the fruit comes from Barsac, where morning mists roll off the river and coax noble rot from the vines.

Expect candied apricot, honey and marmalade with the fresh acidity that keeps good Sauternes lively. A half bottle alongside a fruit tart or a piece of Roquefort is one of wine's most reliable pleasures.
