Domaine Michel Lafarge

Domaine Michel Lafarge has been farming in Volnay for over a century and is among the most consistent names in the village. The style here is traditional in the best sense: careful work in the vineyard, gentle handling of the fruit, and wines that prioritise clarity and balance over extraction or new oak. The domaine converted to organic and then biodynamic viticulture some years ago, a reflection of the long-term thinking that has always characterised how they operate.

Alongside the Pinot Noir-based reds that define the estate, Lafarge also works with Chardonnay in Meursault. Village-level wine from this producer still means something real: pure, thoughtfully made, with the texture and depth that the appellation does better than almost anywhere else.
