Les Caillerets is one of the most prized premier cru sites in all of Volnay, and the Voillot domaine has farmed here for generations. The 2018 vintage brought real warmth and ripeness to the Côte de Beaune, which suits this site particularly well. This is what people mean when they talk about the femininity and finesse of Volnay: red fruit, violets and a silky persistence that goes on and on. An important bottle.
Located south of Beaune at the foot of the Chaignot mountain, the village of Volnay sits at an altitude of 270 metres, with just under 300 inhabitants. With its 29 climats classified as premier cru, the Volnay appellation is made up of vineyards planted with the pinot noir grape variety exclusively, and produces fine, feminine and elegant red wines. In this municipality, the Voillot estate produces 3 wines classified in the premier cru appellation: Caillerets, Champans and Fremiets and 1 wine classified as Volnay Vieilles Vignes produced by blending wines from 5 terroirs.
