About Domaine Claude Dugat
Burgundy, France
The Dugat family has been growing vines in Gevrey-Chambertin since the nineteenth century, and Domaine Claude Dugat is among the most respected small estates in the Côte de Nuits. The cellar is the Grange des Dîmes, a historic stone tithe barn in the village that Claude's father Maurice bought in 1955.
Claude took charge in 1991 and built the domaine's reputation for wines of remarkable finesse; his son Bertrand and daughter Laetitia run things now, Laetitia in the vines and Bertrand in the cellar, working the same patient way. The holdings come to about six hectares, including old vines in grand cru sites such as Charmes-Chambertin and Griotte-Chambertin, and quantities are tiny. Our Bourgogne Rouge comes from the same careful hands.
