About Chateau Coutet

Bordeaux, France

Chateau Coutet is one of the great names in Barsac, classified as a First Growth in 1855 and planted on some of the coldest, most mineral soils in the sweet wine country south of Bordeaux. The blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc is made using the traditional method of multiple passes through the vineyard to select botrytis-affected grapes at exactly the right moment.

In the best vintages Coutet combines richness with a fineness that many Sauternes cannot quite manage. The combination of cool soils, careful selection, and genuine acidity gives the wines a structure that allows them to age for decades.
