Red
Mas La Mola Vi d'Altura 2022
From £39.95
Why Mark chose this
Priorat makes some of the most concentrated red wine in Spain, and Mas La Mola has been in the same family for a hundred and fifty years. Vi d'Altura is made from high-altitude Garnacha in the llicorella slate soils that define the appellation, and the result is a wine with serious depth and a long, mineral finish. Priorat at this level is never cheap, but this is one of the more reasonable bottles from the region.

Tasting Notes
The seven-hectare Mas La Mola estate in Priorat, has been in the Ferrando family for 150 years. Today, the viticulture, winemaking and blending are carried out by Jordi Masdeu, a young Spaniard who previously worked in the London wine trade, and Alessandro Marchesan. The duo’s winemaking approach is artisanal, with a diminutive winery tucked away in the streets of Poboleda, in the north of Priorat.
