Tasting Notes
Also from clay soil, but an older block planted in 1996. One of the oldest Dijon clone blocks in New Zealand, this has 45% new French oak. Dark cherry in colour, with earthy, meaty, savoury aromas, this is a bigger wine than the Estate Pinot. Tannic structure is grainy with a little grip, and there’s fresh acidity again. On the palate: black cherry and earthiness, a touch of menthol, long length and considerable concentration.
