Red
Costanti Ardingo 2020
From £74.95
Why Mark chose this
The Costanti family have farmed in Montalcino for over two centuries and Andrea Costanti is now regarded as one of the top producers in the region. Ardingo is a single-variety Merlot, which is unusual for Tuscany, aged 24 months in French barriques. It's richer and softer than Brunello but made with the same fastidious care: the nose is all cherry, plum and cedar, and the palate has real depth without losing freshness.

Tasting Notes
The Costanti family has owned this 10 hectare estate for over 200 years. Andrea Costanti inherited it from his uncle in the mid-1980s and has worked hard to take it to its current position as one of the very best in Montalcino. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and lasted approximately two weeks. The wine was aged for 24 months in 2.25HL French barriques and 12 months in bottle before release. The wine has an elegant and fruity nose with aromas of cherry and red berries. On the palate, it has a good structure and velvety tannins.
