Why Mark chose this

Bruno Giacosa was one of the great figures of Piedmont, and it was partly thanks to him that Arneis became taken seriously as a grape at all. This is the classic expression: stone fruit, a hint of almond, good weight and a clean, dry finish without being austere. Arneis doesn't have Chardonnay's richness or Riesling's fireworks, but it has a quiet, distinctive character that suits food very well. At this price from this producer, it's a pleasure.

Tasting Notes

Bruno Giacosa was one of the first winemaker to vinify the local variety Arneis, and contributed to the revival of the Piemontese grape, which is today very popular in Italy. Meaning “little rascal” because it is hard to grow, Arneis thrives in Roero and Giacosa is one of the best examples to be found. Aromas of citrus, peach, apples and hints of white flowers and minerals. Medium to full-bodied and well-balanced with the acidity.
