Antonella Corda is a fourth-generation Sardinian producer who really knows what she is doing with the island's best white grape. Vermentino from Sardinia has a character all of its own, somewhere between the citrus freshness of a good Soave and the salty, herbal edge you only get from Mediterranean vineyards. At this price, it is one of the more interesting whites we carry.
Antonella Corda, the granddaughter of famed viticulturist Antonio Argiolas, founded her eponymous Sardinian winery in 2010 after completing a Masters degree in viticulture and winemaking at the prestigious Edmund Mach Foundation. Her approach blends proud, century-old family winemaking traditions with ambition and innovation. The nose is fragrant and intense, resembling a Mediterranean garden, with aromas of orange blossom, grapefruit, lemon, sage and capers. On the palate, a vibrant acidity marries notes of sea salt, complete with a long, complex finish.
Very good with prawns, grilled sea bass or anything with lemon and olive oil.
