Wines from Sardinia
Sardinia does its own thing: Cannonau (the local Grenache) and bright coastal Vermentino, made by growers like Antonella Corda who are raising the island's game. Wines with sunshine and salt in them.
About Sardinia
Sardinia has been left alone by fashion for long enough to keep its own grapes and its own habits. Cannonau — Grenache, under a local name — makes reds with sun in them but a savoury, herbal edge from the scrub.
Vermentino is the white to know: saline, citrus-driven and made for anything that came out of the sea.
