Wines from Wachau

The Wachau is Austria's showpiece: steep, terraced vineyards above the Danube growing Grüner Veltliner and Riesling of real intensity and precision. F X Pichler is one of the great names here. Wines to take seriously.

About Wachau

The Wachau is a narrow stretch of the Danube with terraced vineyards on steep stone, and it makes Austria's most precise white wines. Grüner Veltliner is the local speciality — peppery, savoury, endlessly food-friendly — and the Riesling is world-class.

Bone dry, structured, and very much built to be drunk with something rather than on its own.
