Wines from Cahors

Cahors is where Malbec comes from. Long before Argentina made the grape famous, the vineyards along the river Lot in south west France were shipping a wine so dark it became known as the black wine of Cahors. The rules still require at least 70 per cent Malbec in every bottle, and the style is sturdier and more savoury than most Argentine versions.
