Wines from Brunello di Montalcino
Brunello di Montalcino is Sangiovese at its grandest: a single hill town in southern Tuscany producing some of Italy's longest-lived reds. Patience is rewarded, though good producers charm early too.

About Brunello di Montalcino
Brunello is Sangiovese given room to become something else: grown on the hill of Montalcino, aged for years before release, and capable of a depth the grape rarely reaches elsewhere.
It is not an everyday bottle and does not pretend to be. What it offers is one of Italy's few genuinely age-worthy reds at a price that, alongside the equivalent in Bordeaux or Burgundy, still looks reasonable.
