About Greywacke

Marlborough, New Zealand

Greywacke is the personal project of Kevin Judd, who spent 25 years as the founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay and did as much as anyone to put Marlborough on the world map. He named the winery after the grey bedrock that runs under the region's vineyards.

The wines are made with real craft, including a barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc made with wild yeast that delivers a richer, more textured style than the usual Marlborough zing. Judd also produces a precise, mineral Pinot Gris and a restrained Pinot Noir. If you think you know New Zealand Sauvignon, Greywacke is the producer who will make you look again.
