Tinta Barroca is a Douro workhorse in the best sense: one of the five classic port varieties and the valley's third most planted red grape. It ripens easily to high sugars, preferring the cooler north-facing slopes, and gives soft, round, fragrant wines that suit tawny styles particularly well.
