Elena Brooks is one of the more talented winemakers working in the Barossa, and her Lionheart Shiraz is a lovely example of what the region does best, ripe plum and blackberry fruit, warm spice and a bit of chocolate richness, all put together with a light touch. It drinks well above its price point. Good to keep a few around.
Dandelion Vineyards is the venture of self-titled ‘typist’ Zar Brooks and his winemaking wife Elena, with wines made from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, Fleurieu, the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale. Her ‘Lionheart of the Barossa’ is classic Barossa Shiraz, and remarkable value.
Made for barbecued meat, slow-cooked ribs or a good aged cheddar.
