About Sicily
Sicily is not one wine region but many, and its recent history is a reinvention. A generation ago the island was known for volume; now it produces some of Italy's most distinctive wine, from indigenous grapes almost nowhere else has.
Nero d'Avola and Grillo do the everyday work here, and do it well. Etna, on the volcano, is a different proposition again — see below.
