Ribera del Duero sits high on the Castilian plateau, where blazing days and cold nights give Tempranillo — Tinto Fino here — more concentration and structure than it carries in Rioja.
These are darker, firmer, more serious wines. They reward a decanter and they reward food, and the best of them age for a very long time.
