Vina Mayor

Vina Mayor is one of the established names of Ribera del Duero, founded in the 1980s and based on the so-called Golden Mile, the stretch of the Duero valley that is home to some of Spain's most famous estates.

The Roble, Tempranillo given a few months in oak, is the classic introduction to the region: dark plum and blackberry fruit, a savoury edge and just enough toast from the barrels. Ribera makes some of Spain's most satisfying reds, and this is an approachable, well-priced way in.
