Rudi Pichler

Rudi Pichler is a leading name in the Wachau, the steep, terraced river valley along the Danube where Austria's finest Riesling and Grüner Veltliner are made. The vineyards here are farmed on ancient weathered rock, and the wines carry the mineral character of the stone through into the glass.

Pichler works with both varieties but it is his Riesling that draws the most attention, made across the Wachau's classification levels from lighter Federspiel styles up to the richest Smaragd. The precision and citrus freshness the region is known for runs through all of them. These are wines of real quality from one of the Wachau's most serious producers.
