Jean Michel Guillon

Jean-Michel Guillon's story is one of the more unusual in Burgundy. He arrived in Gevrey-Chambertin in 1980 having retired from a career in aeronautics, and proceeded to build a domaine from scratch in one of the most competitive appellations in the world. His son Alexis now works alongside him.

The domaine has holdings in Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey, and the wines show a consistently fine, precise character. The Chambolle wines in particular have the delicacy and perfume the village is famous for, while the Gevrey bottlings bring more structure and depth. These are proper Burgundies at prices that are still fair by the standards of the Côte de Nuits.
