About Domaine Drouhin Oregon
Oregon, USA
Domaine Drouhin Oregon was established in 1987 when Robert Drouhin of the famous Burgundy négociant house sent his daughter Véronique to the Willamette Valley after tasting its Pinot Noirs at a blind competition in Paris. The estate is in the Dundee Hills, where the red volcanic Jory soils give wines a depth and structure that differs markedly from the silty lowland sites.
Véronique brings a Burgundian sensibility to Oregon fruit, which means whole-cluster fermentation, restrained extraction and oak that supports rather than dominates. The top of the range wines, including the Cuvée Louise named for Véronique's daughter, are among the most consistent fine Pinot Noirs produced outside of France.
