Alfrocheiro is one of Portugal's quiet achievers, most at home in the granite hills of the Dão. It brings dark berry fruit, a hint of violet and fresh acidity, with tannins that stay supple rather than grippy, which is why growers prize it in blends. You will find it doing exactly that job in our Grão Vasco Vinho Tinto, alongside Touriga Nacional, Jaen and Tinto Roriz.
